There are lots of different types of ear tips out there, but two of the most common out there are silicone and foam – and they’re the two kinds you’ll find in our range of Loop Earplugs. But what’s the difference? Here’s everything you need to know about foam vs silicone.

The lowdown on silicone ear tips

Silicone ear tips are both flexible and soft, which makes them incredibly easy to insert – and ensures they’re seriously comfortable for extended wear. One of the standout features of silicone ear tips is their durability. They’re washable, which means you can keep them clean – helping to prolong their lifespan. For more details on how to properly care for your silicone ear tips, check out our maintenance guide.

Silicone ear tips provide the same level of noise reduction as foam ear tips – meaning they’re a great choice if you’re looking for high levels of noise reduction along with a long-lasting, easy-to-maintain option.

Key benefits of silicone ear tips

  • Flexible and soft: Easy to insert and comfortable
  • Washable: Simply wipe clean to prolong the lifespan
  • Durable: Long-lasting so you can wear them again and again.

Everything you need to know about foam ear tips

Memory foam ear tips mold to the shape of your ear canal when warmed in your hands, for a super precise, personalized fit. This creates a very secure yet comfortable seal, which is ideal for those who prioritize a snug fit along with high levels of noise reduction. What’s more, foam tips adapt to the movements in your ear canal as you go about your everyday life, making them ideal for all-day wear.

Key benefits of foam ear tips

  • Custom fit: Heat-activated memory foam molds to your ears
  • Secure seal: You’ll get a snug fit for more effective sound reduction
  • All-day comfort: The foam adjusts to your movement for a comfortable fit, whatever you’re doing.

Which ear tips to choose?

Both silicone and foam earplugs offer a high level of comfort and noise reduction, making them both great options. The choice really comes down to personal preference. Some people find foam earplugs more comfortable – but others think silicone tips fit their ears better. Luckily, we offer both – so you can choose the ear tips that work best for you.

How to find the best fit

Choosing the right ear tip size is essential for the best experience – which is why we offer ear tips in a choice of sizes, so you can get the perfect fit for you.

Our core range of earplugs all come with removable silicone ear tips in four sizes (XS, S, M and L), while the Plus versions come with silicone ear tips in the same four sizes, as well as a choice of foam tips in three sizes (S, M, L).

We’ve recently renewed our ear tips to fit an even broader range of ear shapes and sizes to enhance comfort and effectiveness. This variety ensures you can customize your earplugs for the perfect fit, even if you need different sizes for each ear.

We recommend trying out different sizes to find the most secure and comfortable fit. If you’re unsure about the fit, take a look at our helpful video guide to assist you. And remember, we offer a 100-day return policy. If the fit isn't right, you can return them for a full refund.
