‘We couldn’t find earplugs that delivered protection, comfort and style – so we made our own.’
There are lots of reasons people wear earplugs. Live music, noise sensitivity, sleep, focus, parenting, motorcycling – the list goes on. Until recently, there wasn’t a pair of earplugs that satisfied them all. Enter Loop and its revolutionary line of earwear, combining innovative tech with user-first protection that looks and feels great.
From party animals to young parents to people with noise sensitivity
There’s a Loop earplug for every user and every need. This diversity of approach is embedded in the brand’s identity: from the early days, founders Maarten Bodewes and Dimitri O searched for a product to address their own tinnitus – the result of frequent motorcycling, clubbing and music festivals. At the time, they found the earplug selection available on the market lacking, as it failed to deliver on sound, look and feel.
‘From the beginning,’ says Maarten, ‘we decided earplugs shouldn’t be something to be embarrassed about. They can make a statement; they can be empowering. We decided earplugs should be the new sunglasses – which these days symbolize cool.’
In the beginning, Loop earplugs were primarily marketed toward nightlife lovers, and The New York Times called them ‘the best earplugs for concerts.’ Then Covid hit. In 2020, the company changed course, responding to a fanbase of people hailing from all walks of life. User interest picked up, and sales exploded.
To the future – and beyond
In March 2022, Loop reached a major milestone – a million pairs of earplugs sold. As Dimitri says, ‘we set out to break the stigma around hearing protection. We believe everyone should have a pair of earplugs handy. And we’re well on our way to making that vision a reality.’
What continues to set Loops apart? Loop products are the result of rigorous research and development and are defined by groundbreaking tech and design from Loop’s in-house product team. Loop earplugs provide certified protection that elevates style without limiting users’ senses. And Loop ear tips adapt to any ear, too, coming in sizes XXS to L. All Loops are reusable and come with a carry case for easy storage. And the brand’s product portfolio continues to expand.
