"These are really great for gigs and protecting your hearing. My hearing got a bit damaged when I was young playing in a wind band and sitting in front of trumpets weekly so I’ve learned as I got older I need to protect my hearing more and these do the job well at gigs. I’ve been stood in front of a speaker and enjoyed the show with great sound and no problems after whereas the friend I was with could barely hear anything but ringing for a few hours after."

In quieter surroundings you can still talk with them in just fine, but once you wear them with loud music around (the intended use) you cannot understand a thing anyone says and I noticed I talked way quieter with them in, so nobody could understand me either. If you use too big or small, there will be more bass distortion or a complete lack of protection.
